Kalaburagi, May 20: A message received from a lady on the cellphone of the husband created rift between the couple, and ended in the murder of the wife and suicide by the husband

The incident occurred on Thursday May 19 at an apartment located on Santrasawadi Road in the city. Prabhulinga, who works as an electrician, came home as usual on Wednesday night. When he was about to retire for the night, he received a message on his cellphone from a woman. When his wife questioned him about the message, Prabhulinga got wild and hurled abuses at her.

As the lady remained adamant on questioning him, he attacked her with an iron rod and hit her head. Being furious, he continued to beat her up, and banged her head against the wall, it is gathered. This resulted in the death of Prabhulinga's wife, Mahananda.

Later in the night, Prabhulinga regained his senses and repented for what he had done. He went up the building and hanged himself in the room meant for mobile tower.

The couple were from Sulepet in Chincholi taluk. They had married five years back, and have left behind a three-year-old son. Policemen have registered a case and an investigation has been undertaken.
