New Delhi, Oct 28: Don't forget to write your complete and correct address on the railway reservation requisition form while applying for a ticket, else you may face imprisonment besides loosing your confirmed berth during the journey.

Northern Railways has started to verify the addresses given on the reservation requisition forms.

In case the address given in the form is found to be incorrect or incomplete, the railway authorities reserve the right to cancel the berth or seat allotted to the passenger, a senior official has said.

In case of doubt over the address of the ticket holder, the passenger would be asked to produce the proof and if he or she fails, the traveller may be liable for punishment with imprisonment up to three months and fine up to Rs 500, he said, adding such passengers would be treated as travelling on transferred ticket and would be punished.

During the period from April to September 2007, 111 cases of travelling on transferred tickets were detected and those found guilty were punished, he said.

The official said that in view of passenger rush during the festival season, the NR is running several special trains and 42 additional ticket booking windows have been opened from where unreserved ticket can be brought up to three days in advance.

In addition, 400 home guards would be deployed at railway stations in New Delhi to maintain security, he said, adding no platform ticket would be sold at New Delhi and Sarrai Rohilla railway stations from November 7 to 15, 2007.
