Mysuru, May 24: A woman who was miraculously found alive and made headlines during her own funeral procession a week ago, died on Monday, May 23.

Padmabai Lodha (59), breathed her last at Apollo BGS Hospitals here at 2.30 pm. The last rites were performed in the evening at the crematorium near the foot of Chamundi Hill.

Padmabai Lodha, wife of businessman Mahendra Kumar Lodha, had hit headlines last week after some movements were found in her otherwise rickety body, before her cremation. Lodha had been admitted to a hospital after she complained of respiratory problems on May 16. She was presumed dead on the same day, after the doctors gave no hopes of her recovery.

The doctors on Monday evening, May 16 had said that the woman’s body had turned cold completely and that her heartbeat had stopped. They asked relatives of the woman to make preparations for conducting last rites.

The relatives made preparations, and called people to convey this tragic news. They also released an advertisement in a publication, announcing that funeral procession of Padmabai would be taken out at 11 am on Tuesday. The cremation was slated to be held at the foot of Chamundi Hills here.

Hundreds of people rushed to pay their last respects, and many came by night flight from Rajasthan. All arrangements for the funeral procession and cremation had been made and the body was brought from the private hospital to the residence at Agrahara.

As the grieving relatives of the woman got busy with undertaking rituals and paid their last respects in preparation for the funeral procession, the people saw some movement in her body. She was then admitted into Apollo Hospital here. The doctors there said that breathing and heartbeat of the lady were normal but she was unconscious because only 85 percent of her brain was functional. They admitted her into the intensive care in the hospital and opined that she can be discharged in about two days time.

But on Monday May 23 the woman breathed her last.

This is a clear cut case of medical negligence by the first clinic which d her dead. Lack of oxygen caused the brain damage. In my opinion the the clinic has to bear the responsibility and there should be a law suit filed against the first clinic. The money should be used for the expenses incurred at the Apollo hospital.

Going after the clinic for medical negligence is essential and will hold them accountable as well as save countless other patients who are at mercy of these physicians at private clinics. In India there is no accountability and medical negligence does not incur severe punishments to the clinics. If there are regulations to suspend their licence, MCI comes to their rescue. The doctors in Mumbai are using private security because of patient party coming after them. what does this tell us?

Living and dead behave alike now a days to the extent doctors also cannot distinguish between them. Oh God how will it be if buried alive? Just can't imagine the situation.

Unknowingly how many people are declared dead god only knows. Sometimes in a hurry even hospital authorities informs person is dead without doing much autopsy. When person's breathing stops..just try to beat heart softly..to function once again. It's ill-effect of food what we are consuming and moreover pollution.
In earlier days heard people are living 10,000 years and latter on reduce to 1000 years and turn to 150 years..now only 70 years..is almost.
One thing good happen in this case all near and dear ones arrived on time...not giving any chance of delay.
