Aditya Sachdeva murder: Court refuses to hear bail plea of Bihar MLC


Patna, May 24 (IANS): A Bihar court on Tuesday refused to hear the bail plea of JD-U legislator Manorama Devi who has arrested last week for harbouring her son Rocky Yadav after he allegedly killed a teenager in Gaya district.

"Gaya district and session judge has refused to hear her bail plea and deferred it to May 27," a district police official said.

The court asked the police to produce the case diary and the case report.

"She is prisoner number 10,460 in the same Gaya central jail where her husband Bindi Yadav and son Rocky Yadav have been lodged," a jail official said.

Manorama Devi's son Rocky Yadav, 30, allegedly killed teenager Aditya Sachdeva on May 7 on Bodh Gaya-Gaya road for overtaking his car.

He was was absconding after the incident, allegedly with the help of both his parents: Manorama Devi and Bindi Yadav, a politician with well known criminal links.

Manorama Devi, who is a member of the legislative Council (MLC) of Bihar, has also been booked for keeping liquor in her home in Gaya town against state's prohibition law. 

She and her husband's arms licences have been cancelled.

Following the public outcry over Aditya Sachdeva's murder, the ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) also suspended her membership. 

The teenager's family has demanded a CBI probe into his murder and a speedy trial of the accused.
