Mumbai, Oct 29: Governor S M Krishna has rubbished the allegations as 'utterly false' against him that he was 'playing a direct role in party politics' that have appeared in a section of the press in Bangalore on Monday October 29.
In a statement issued by the governor's office, Krishna has said, “The allegation that I came to Bangalore to indulge in party politics is malicious and utterly false. My visit to Karnataka from October 27 – 30 was decided well in advance. The purpose of the visit was to fulfill my commitments to two social organizations that had invited me for their programmes. The visit had been approved by the President of India.”
As scheduled, S M Krishna attended the musical programme 'Visions of India' by violin maestro Dr L Subramanium at the Gayatri Vihar, Palace Ground, Bangalore on the evening of 27 October.
He also visited the Chowdaiah Memorial Hall to attend 'Congress party meetings in a room at the Hall' or played 'a direct role in party politics' as has been alleged in the press report.
The allegation is therefore mischievous and intended to mislead the people.
He further said, “I must mention here that although my Karnataka visit was an official one, I treated it as private and made all the expenses pertaining to the visit from my personal account.”
“I have scrupulously avoided meeting any politician or party leaders. It is ridiculous of persons whose own credentials are suspicious to give me lessons in ethics," he added.
