Mangaluru, May 28: The chairperson of state children's rights commission Kripa Amar Alva has sparked a row by speaking over the phone while the Nadageethe (state anthem) of Karnataka was being sung at the town hall on Saturday, May 28.
It was the gathering of the Sthree Shakthi members of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts and the state anthem was sung at the commencement of the programme.
Ministers of the state government Umashree, Mahadeva Prasad, Ramanatha Rai and Abhayachandra Jain along with many other dignitaries were paying their respect by standing.
Half way through the anthem, Kripa Alva received a call and started speaking over the phone. In between the call, one of the dignitaries pointed at her mistake. She realized her mistake and hid the phone later with a smile.
As the chairperson of the state level commission the disrespect shown towards the state anthem by Kripa Alva has been disliked by many.
