Mangalore: Hamza Malar Bags ‘Aralu’ Award

Mangalore, Oct 30: Young story-writer and journalist of popular eveninger 'Karavali Ale' Hamza Malar has bagged the ‘Aralu’ award, being given by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

The award is being given for ‘Ummana Alikhatu’, a collection of short stories by Hamza Malar.

The award has been established to promote young Kannada writers below 35 years. A 3-member expert panel has selected ‘Aralu’ for the award this year.

Hamza Malar has earlier bagged prestigious awards like Muslim Sahitya Award, Beary Sahitya Award, Lankesh Award, Sadhana Award etc. 

He has authored 13 collections of short stories and published 28 books.
