Mangalore, Nov 1: “One should show good results. Lack of IT knowledge, makes it highly difficult to trace out opportunities. Even if one traces it out now, it might be too late. Commitment to learn is very essential”, declared P Suresh Bhat, director of NITK, Suratkal in his address on Technopreneur promotion programme (TePP) which was held in KCCI Exim Facilitation Center near here on Wednesday October 31.
 
Replying to queries by participants regarding TePP, he said “Innovation is essential.  Today any thing is possible because of innovation” A microscope, a microscopic analyzes of samples can be done with the help of a soft-ware attached to the microscope, which will read the analysis and give results, this is just an example of innovation, he informed.
 
“Do not ever be complacent, share your concerns and try to work together as team. Intelligence will not lead to success, if one is alone”, he further advised
 
The said programme was sponsored by DSIR (Department of Scientific and Industrial Research) and Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC). It consists of four phases viz., micro technopreneurship support, seam-less scale-up support for TePP, supplementary TePP fund and TePP support fund mainly to encourage individual innovators, he added.
 
TePP support to the innovators is limited to 90% of the total cost of the project and the remaining 10% cost is to be borne by the innovator/ inventor. Rs 75.000 will be provided or 90% of the total cost of projects will be borne, considering whichever is maximum, he elabourated.
 
The said scheme is applicable to all individual innovators, whether they are house-wives, super animated professionals or college drop-outs. “Qualification is not a yardstick for the selection of the candidates rather it is the work merit which is the criteria, he averred.
 
Though no group is permitted to be part of the programme, the proprietor of newly-started companies whose annual turn- over is less than 45 lacs, will be permitted, he added.
