I have lost one of my old freind. Although we have not met in the last few years he was always there in my mind as a renowned poet in Konkani. Once upon a time he was acclaimed as a great poet (During Josa Alvares' Mithr days) and was nicknamed 'Konknecho Kavi Izaicho Luvi". He became my friend through Shri Bams and remained so eversince. A soft spoken and shy character that he was, always led his life in total isolation. Whenever Bams came on vacation, he would come over to meet us late in the evenings and we would sit late nights together discussing about konkani and its people. We used to call him and Austin as 'Josas Altar Boys' for both of them were associated closely with the Late Josa's journalistic endeavour.

When Bams was gone from this world, we published a special issue of 'Udev' in memory of Bams sometime in 1993. To my great surpise, Luvi contributed a beautiful poem and an article describing the qualities of his best friend Bams and pesonally wrote to me - "It's after 15 long years I have resorted to my favourite art of poetry out of love towards my best friend, Bams". Indeed he was an affectionate freiend who will alwasys be missed to a great deal. On behalf of all members of Daiji Dubai I express our great respects to a great friend and poet our mother language gifted to us and hearty condolences to Clara, christelle and Lavita to bear the loss in their personal lives. May the Merciful Lord protect and guard them in their future life.
