Mumbai, Nov 10: The ‘Antony Tauro Nite’ was held at Ghatkopar on Friday November 9, to encourage young talented Konkani artists, on the occasion of first annual cultural programme of Konkan Kalakaar Mumbai, at Zaveriben Popatlal Hall, Ghatkopar here.
Fr Nelson Saldhana, parish priest, Borivili I C Colony Church, was the chief guest. Fr Saldanha felicitated Antony and Suchitra Tauro. A souvenir and CD of the association were released on the occasion.
Fr Henry Vikroli, Fr Sajuprasad Pereira, famous singer Victor Concessao, Lawrence Coelho, editor, Divo Konkani Weekly, Prakash Henry D’Paula, editor, Kutam Konkani Weekly, popular Konkani artiste Sunny A D’Souza and well-known Konkani singer Henry D’Souza, were present on the occasion.
Music was given by Benjamin Miranda. Geo Agrar compered the programme. Jerry Rasquinha, Joseph Pinto and group, pitched in jokes as part of the entertainment.
John Sequeira Sakinaka, president, Konkani Artists’, welcomed the gathering and Alex Monteiro proposed the vote of thanks.
At Mira Road
On the same evening, ‘Antony Tauro Nite’ was also held in the St Joseph’s Church auditorium, Mira Road (E), Thane here, on the occasion of the first anniversary of Catholic Association of Ajekar – Mumbai.
Prior to the nite at the stage programme, Fr Rudolf D’Souza, parish priest, St Joseph’s Church, presided over. Gilbert Baptist, CMD, Malaika Appliances Pvt Ltd, was the chief guest.
Singer Antony Tauro, John Sequeira Sakinaka, president, Konkan Kalakar, social worker Clement A Lobo Nakre, and Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief, Daijiworld.com were the guests of honour.
Denis Lobo, president of the association welcomed the gathering and spoke about the association. Joseph Tauro compered the programme. Stephan D’Souza, joint secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
