Kundapur: Kandlur church theft case - Three from Tamil Nadu arrested

Kundapur, Jun 25: Kundapur police in a swift operation arrested three persons who allegedly broke the latch of the door at St Antony Shrine near Kandlur and after failed attempt to conduct major theft, took away petty cash.

The arrested are identified as Ramesh (36), Venkatesh (28) and Ilumalai (37), residents of Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The main accused Sharavannan is absconding.

The thieves who entered the church after breaking the latch of the door on the left of the church on Tuesday, June 21 ransacked two cupboards and broke the donation box. They could steal only some cash. The incident came to light on Wednesday morning. Kundapur police came to the place, registered a case and started investigations.

Kundapur police formed a team and threw the net for the suspects. The police on duty at night on Wednesday spotted a car parked suspiciously near Kandlur in Balkooru and obtained information. The people in the car behaved suspiciously and one of them fled. The police took the remaining three men in the car into custody and questioned them. The police came to know that it was a group of thieves.

The group which came from Tamil Nadu to Kundapur in the car had conducted theft at Kandlur church. As they could not steal much cash in the church, they had prepared a sketch to steal on Wednesday night also.

Police also seized Indica car of Tamil Nadu registration from them. A search is on for Sharavannan who is absconding. The arrested persons were produced in the court. The court has remanded them for judicial custody.

A police case has been registered in Kundapur police station.

    Police must always keep a check on migrant laborers and migrant population. Recently a migrant laborer has raped and murdered a woman in kerala/ Its very likely that migrants can be thief or rapists or blackmailers

    Police know how to create criminals. Dont worry that is common practice in police everywhere. Whenever pressure comes on them. They will put someone inside jail. Once the matter is cool they will be out. Anyone can steal church or temple or masjid but no one can steal God.
