Udupi, Jun 25: The new district-in-charge and state fisheries and youth empowerment minister, Pramod Madhwaraj officially addressed media persons in a first press meet at DC’s office, Rajathadri, Manipal on Saturday, June 25 and said he has already instructed all department officials to improve their productivity in work. He said that government officials will not trouble public for any favour.
“A cabinet ministers' meeting will be held on June 27 and 28, where district commissioner and zilla panchayat CEO will be present. During the meeting, we will discuss on various issues and present proposal for development. The first proposal will be on construction of series of vented dams in the district to increase the level of water storage. The second proposal will be the construction of Kundsemp-II stage project in Mangaluru, Kundapur, Puttur and Udupi. Soon after the meeting, tender process will be notified.” he added.
“Third proposal is on drinking water project. If the state government releases Rs 40 crores, district will get permanent solution with regard to water problem. A proposal has been already sent to chief minister demanding to release Rs 6 crore for compensation for natural calamity and road repair. A proposal of Rs 5 crore has been sent to state government to construct retaining wall,” he said.
A meeting will be held with all interested stakeholders, auto drivers, maxi cabs, heads of institutions, RTO and DC on July 2 and he will preside over the meeting, Madhwaraj said.
Action will be taken to fill 55% of RTE vacancies under RTE quota, he revealed..
Regarding compensation of Trasi victim’s families, he said, “We have already recommended the case to CM. We need to ensure safe transportation of students and protect them. We are thinking about appointing guards in schools which are close to national highway,”
“I have enjoyed my work as MLA for three years. I will not touch Kaup and Byndoor constituency. I will leave its responsibility of maintenance and development to respective MLAs and senior Congress leaders Vinay Kumar Sorake and Gopal Poojary. As a minister, I will extend my support to strengthen Kundapur and Karkala.”
