London, Nov 18: A Brit teenager found out the hard way that it doesn’t pay to challenge others to speed in a residential road via a video posted on YouTube.

19-year old Peter Ballinger, who decided to issue the challenge via the video sharing website, has not only been fined a 140 pounds for careless driving, but has also been given six penalty points on his licence, which means that he will lose his licence until he passes a new test.

He was arrested last year after appearing on the "Copt Elm Challenge" on the YouTube website in which he challenged others to hit the highest speeds they could in Copt Elm Road, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham.

A court while not finding Ballinger guilty of dangerous driving, convicted him of the lesser charge of driving without due care and attention, reports the Daily Mail.

Two friends, Michael Gallagher and Colin Eagle, both 19, who appeared with him at Gloucester magistrates' court and denied aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring him to drive a Renault Clio dangerously, were let off.
