Mangalore: 'Kalotsava-2007’ Concludes

Mangalore, Nov 18:  The concluding session of ‘Kalotsava-2007’ for children organized by the Sandesha foundation for culture and education, took place at its premises near Nanthoor Circle here on Saturday, November 17. The ‘Kalotsava-2007’ was a three-day state level competition (November 12 to 17) organized specially for children.





The festival had been earlier inaugurated by the Bishop of Mangalore on Monday, November 12. The valedictory function was presided over by Karnataka bank chairman K. Anathakrishna who appreciated the contribution made by Sandesha Foundation in the sphere of culture and arts and the platform they provided for children to expose their talents.

He opined that in addition to the school curriculum, students should be encouraged to take part in other co-curricular activities which brings out their latent hidden talent, he added. He also congratulated the winners of various competitions held at Kalostava-2007.

The participants included higher primary, high school and pre university students who took part in the course of the five days in a wide variety of competitions like singing (solo), instrumental, drawing, classical singing, patriotic songs, classical dance recital, folk songs and folk dance.











There were separate competitions held for the mentally and physically challenged children on Wednesday, November 14 on the occasion of Children’s Day. Students of St. Agnes Special School won the rolling trophy in competitions held in the Special Children’s category. A cultural programme was presented by the students of Sandesha also held on the occasion.

A.M. Prasad, IGP western range distributed prizes to the winners.  Fr. Francis Lewis, director of Sandesha and Lioness Kripa Alva were also present.
