Mangaluru, Jul 13: Police have arrested Shailesh Ganiga (25) under Goonda Act and have sent him to Ballari jail on Tuesday, July 12.
Shailesh is the accused in Mangaluru pub attack case. He is also an accused in more than 10 cases including rioting and attempts of murders.
Shailesh, originally from Bajilakeri in city stayed in Talapady. He had surrendered to police three days back as he was wanted in many cases.
Bunder police inspector Shantharam had advised his higher officers to invoke goonda act against Shailesh taking into account the seriousness of his crimes. ACP Tilakchandra and DCP Dr Sanjeev Patil studied the case and recommended the advice.
Accordingly city police commissioner Chandra Sekhar ordered the invocation of Goonda Act against Shailesh. The arrest was made and he was sent to jail on Tuesday.
