Mangalore Nov 21: The fourth national-level conference of Kannada literature and culture ‘Alva’s Nudisiri-2007,’ will be organized by Alva’s Education foundation between November 30 and December 2 at Rathnkaravarni Vedike at Vidyagiri near Moodbidri.
Dr Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation while speaking to media here on Tuesday, November 21 informed that Kannada laureate and lexicologist Prof G Venkatasubbaiah will preside over the conference. Eminent Kannada novelist and fiction writer Vyasaraya Ballal will inaugurate the conference. The concept of the conference will be “Kannada Manassu: Sahithiya Javabdaari” (Kannada mindset and litterateur’s accountability).
Dr Alva informed at the meet that the said three-day conference will have four sessions entitled ‘Sahithiya samajika javabdarigalu’, ‘Sahithiya shaikshanika javabdarigalu’, ‘Sahithiya samskrithika javabdarigalu’and ‘Suvarna Karnataka abhivridhi chintane.’Also a ‘Kavi Samaya-Kavi Namana’ and ‘Samsmarane’ will also be organized, he added.
In the course of the press meet amongst other matters, Dr Alva also informed that Alva’s Nudisiri awards 2007 will be conferred on eminent personalities like Dr Mathur Krishnamurthy (culture), Prof A M Mithra (literature), K S Ashwath (cinema), M B Singh (journalism), B M Idinabba (Kannada horata), Dr P S Shankar (medical literature), Ananda Ganiga (theatre organization), Prof Suneetha Shetty (Kannada service outside Karnataka), Karnur Koragappa Rai (Yakshagana) and Prema Bhat (literature) for their service to the cause of Kannada literature, art and culture.
The literary and cultural extravaganza will conclude on December 2 in which the administrative reforms commission chairman M Veerappa Moily will deliver the valedictory address. Moreover, the three-day literary conference will also have scintillating cultural programmes presented by renowned artists from across the state.
