Mangaluru, Jul 22: In line with governemnt of India's policy on 'ease of doing business' in port, NMPT has taken up various steps to implement the concept in the port's day to day affairs.
In this connection testing lab for edible items will be set up in the port premises itself so that importer/exporters of edible goods can get clearance here itself hitherto done at Mysuru. Another major step in this direction is opening of full fledged PHO office in the port premises which will be functional very soon. This will immensely help the embarkation/disembarkation of cruise tourists at the port and thereby encourage the cruise tourism in Mangaluru.
The Port has awarded the work of implementing RFID based gate automation to M/s CMS Computers, Ltd which is expected to be operational by November 2016. This will pave way for switching over to electronic transactions and will ease out congestion at the gates. Direct port delivery to all the ACP clients and introduction of issuing E-delivery orders are some of the other major initiatives taken up by the port.
Once all the above initiatives are fully implemented, trade will be benefitted in terms of time and efficiency which will contribute to reduction in cost. P C Parida, chairman, NMPT has appealed all the port users to avail the above facilities for speedy and hassle-free transactions in the Port.
