Mangaluru: 'If my son is guilty, let him face punishment' - Rai

Mangaluru, Jul 26: "If my son has done something wrong, let the concerned initiate legal proceedings against him. I will never put pressure on anyone to shield him," said forest and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai.

He was reacting to questions raised by media persons during his visit to the city on Monday July 25.


Deepu Rai

"I never questioned about the behaviours of children of other politicians. My son never interfered in my political life. Myself I do not have any bad habits. Nobody can watch all the time what their children are doing." Rai added.

During their return journey after visiting Irpu Falls near Srimangala in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu district on Sunday July 25, Rai's son, Deepu, and his four friends had fought with some locals on the question of parking their car in front of a local's house. The case was referred to police station, and the policemen had struck a truce between the two sides and sent them away after getting them to execute bonds.

    UNLESS SOME DRUNK GOES OUT OF THR WAY AND PHYSICALLY ASSAULTS SOMEONE, IT IS NOT ILLEGAL!!

    HOW CAN ONE SAY THAT THE SO CALLED SOBER GUY IS CORRECT?

    Olden days, people of village and even a town almost knew each other or heard of each other and could say he is so & so's son\daughter\brother etc. Population was small. Meeting in Temples\churches\Masjids knew each others by face too. Their children used to go to near by schools and colleges where again one could identify one another and any untoward incident or misbehavior news or any good news used to be relayed to one another and parents had a hold on their children's activities.
    Presently, it has become very difficult for Parents to keep check on their school\college going children as they travel far and the people of that area are not known to the parents. Once out of the house children are to themselves and their activities are unknown to any body. With Mobiles\two wheelers and even cars at their disposal, they are able to go places where they are strangers, as such their activities hidden.
    So what Minister R.Rai said even about his son is very correct. It is almost impossible to trace children once they are out of the house. Only parents come to know when their children fall into some trouble...!!!
    Those who still say parents should control their children and their behaviour are hypocrites (pretenders).

When Deepak Rai said "I am Minister's son,don't play with me", locals lost control and beat them and handed over to Police..

    That's all???....I thought he had done something stupid like Sadananda Gowda's son or a Bihar MLA's son who shot a young man to death for overtaking his vehicle....These, though may be wrong, are minor incidents which are common in tourist spots. Deepu Rai's case came out because he is a minister's son. This is a classical example of media making a mountain out of a mole.

    See how beloved prime minister working continuously for 36 hours without break. Even people ready to meet him in regular occassions even at midnight.
