Mangaluru, Jul 26: Some KSRTC buses resumed service from city in the evening of Tuesday, July 26.
Mangaluru –Dharmasthala, Mangaluru- Kasargod, State Bank-Manipal (Volvo) are the buses that left the city in the evening.
The strike called by transport unions has not been called off yet. The strike started on Monday, July 25.
The government has used the services of the trainee drivers to start the service, informed V I Hegde the divisional controller of KSRTC based in city.
Police protection was provided to the buses.
Mangaluru division alone has lost Rs 70 lac in revenues from yesterday, it is estimated.
The Manipal going bus was stopped at Lalbhag by some striking staff of KSRTC and they threatened the driver of the bus that he would face the consequences if he drove the bus to Manipal. Upon hearing this, the driver Basayya left the bus and walked out abandoning the passengers, the later reports said.
