Kasargod, Jul 27: A small girl died and more than ten persons suffered injuries in a serial road accident which occurred at Bandyodu on national highway near here on the evening of Tuesday July 26.
An Innova car, two auto rickshaws, and another car were involved with this accident. The tragic accident took away the life of Fatimat Nihal (4), daughter of Ashraf and Saemera couple from Mogral Kadavath.
All the injured were admitted into hospitals at Uppala and Mangaluru. The accident occurred between vehicles moving from Uppala to the town and those which were moving in the opposite direction. The Innova car hit an auto rickshaw that was moving towards Uppala from Bandyodu. Immediaely following the accident, vehicles which were following the ill-fated vehicles too dashed against the vehicles in front.
Nihal, who suffered critical injuries, was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru and all out efforts to save her were made. But the efforts failed to save her.
Vehicular movement on the national highway was thrown out of gear on account of this accident. Police visited the spot and restored normal traffic.
The injured include Abdul Khadar, resident of Paivalike Kayarkatte, Ashraf Sameera, and Batisha. Hospital sources said condition of over five of the injured continues to be serious.
