Kuwait: Kannada Koota to Host World Kannada Cultural convention

Kuwait, Nov 24: A mega cultural event is being organized by the World Kannada Cultural convention 2007 (Vishwa Kannada Samskruthi Sammelana ) in Kuwait under the banner of Kannada Koota Kuwait jointly with Hridayavahini of the State, on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the Dr. Kamel Al-Rayees auditorium of American International School, Kuwait informs a official press release.
To give a brief recap, the KKK had a very humble beginning when a small group of Kannadigas congregated at Dr. Taraknath’s residence to celebrate Karnataka based festivals and also other social activities, so that children and along-with adults would enjoy at these gatherings. It was during one of these social gatherings, the idea took root to form a Kannada Koota and thus KKK came into existence in 1984, with “a humble sapling laid by Dr.Taraknath that has today grown into a huge, strong tree and is growing from strength to strength” proudly declares Sudhkar Shetty, the president KKK in the press release.
In 2006 the Suvarna Mahotsava of Karnataka, KKK was held, with the Koota members illustrating the rich culture of Karnataka state with old/modern poets of Karnataka. And in continuation of Suvarna Mahotsava, a very ambitious program this year is undertaken to conduct the Vishwa Kannada Sammelana inviting many famous personalities.
Rashtra Kavi Dr.G.S.Shivarudrappa will preside over the Sammelana. Eminent personalities like C.R.Simha, a well known Kannada actor, Sandhya Pai, editor of Kannada magazine Taranga. While Manasi Prasad, carnatic singer and classical dancer par excellence will be performing on both the days. Various troupes from the state namely Kinkini (Bangalore), Natyanjali Bharatanatya Shale (Sirsi), Doddata Tanda (Bellary), Manjushri Balaga (Sirsi), Jaya Natyakala Academy (Kolar) among others will perform. Also there will be variety entertainment programmes by KKK members.
In addition addition there will be a forum held discussing topics like poetry, health, media, industry and humor. In a nutshell it will be cultural and as well as academic extravaganza for the two days, informs the press release which then goes on to exhort all the Kannadigas, particularly in Kuwait, not to miss this golden opportunity to see their countrymen performing on one platform and concludes with a request that contribution in any form would be warmly welcomed for this ambitious project undertaken by KKK.
