Sullia, Jul 30: A Dakshina Kannada district-based lecturer tried to commit suicide at her residence at Manganahalli, Bengaluru on Friday July 29. She stands admitted into a hospital at Nagarbhavi here, and is out of danger, it is gathered.
Her family members have however, not registered any report about the incident in the police station.
Dr V Laxmi, who is from from Dakshina Kannada district, was working in the government college here in the past. She had filed a case of harassment against the college principal in the police station here. About a year back she was transferred from here to government PU college at Nelamangala and she had started to live with her family at Manganahalli.
On Friday morning, Dr Laxmi received a phone call from Sullia police station. The policemen wanted to serve on her notice about filing of B report, which means not finding any credible evidence in the complaint. Shocked by this development, Laxmi listed out reasons in her Facebook account for deciding to end her life.
It is gathered that Laxmi was frustrated at the fact that her complaint against the principal was not being investigated properly. It is said that when she met Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, he had promised to order re-investigation. But she was taken aback at the B report filed by Sullia police, her son said.
A friend of Laxmi, who saw her Facebook post, immediately contacted her husband and son over phone. Her son Arvind immediately rushed home and admitted his mother who had fallen sick by then, to hospital, it has transpired.
