Bengaluru, Jul 30: It is common for politicians to feel that they are superiors to government officials, although many a time their own tenure of power happens to be very short.
On Friday July 29, BJP MLA representing Bommanahalli constituency in the city, Satish Reddy, threatened a lady officer of slapping her and breaking her teeth.
Bommanahalli happens to be the constituency to have suffered the most damage due to overnight torrential rain. MLA, Satish Reddy, who came to check the damage, was overtaken at the sight of flood-like situation everywhere. Turning his anger at deputy conservator of forests of forest division, Deepika Vajapyee, who was present there, Reddy, ignoring the presence of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike commissioner, upbraided her and warned her of slapping her and breaking her teeth, duly accusing her of not discharging her duties properly.
Not prepared to take the threat lying down, Deepika hit back, pointing out that flood was created because of encroachment of main canal and construction of houses in low-lying areas, for both of which, she was not responsible. She also told the MLA to behave himself.
Later, the officer clarified that Reddy was overwhelmed by the sight of such a grave situation and hence spoke in that way.
