Kasargod, Jul 31: The police from the town have arrested a person, who has been named as accused in over 40 different cases, which include liquor trafficking and harassing of girls.
The arrested accused happens to be Sheikh Kamil (34), a resident of Vidyanagar Chalakunnu here.
Sheikh Kamil had absconded in the past, and the police had issued lookout notice for him. The police learnt that he had fled to Dubai. They succeeded in arresting him as soon as he flew back and arrived at Mumbai airport.
Kamil was involved with liquor trafficking in the past. He was an accused in a case in which 7,000 sachets of liquor through a Mahindra Bolero vehicle on August 6, 2007, which was detected at B C Road Vidyanagar here. He was also involved with an incident in which 4,800 sachets of liquor was confiscated from a car from Poinachi Paramba here on November 6, 2008.
In another case, his name came up in an incident in which a youth was attacked in the town on November 13, 2009, backed by the specific intention of fomenting trouble. A lady who he got to know through a missed call in 2011 had later complained of having been abducted by him and harassed.
