Mangaluru: Police arrest 3 SRS activists for raid of St Thomas School

Mangaluru, Jul 31: Police from Mangaluru rural police station here on Sunday July 31, arrested three persons relating to the raid of St Thomas Aided Higher Primary School at Padu Bandanthila with the allegation that Urdu and Arabic were 'forcibly' taught to students.

Nitin, Santosh and Dinesh are the arrested persons who are the activists of Sri Rama Sene (SRS).


Raid photos

Around 50 to 60 activists of SRS had raided the school on Saturday, July 30. The activists had said that every Saturday the students from 6th and 7th standards of the school were 'forced' to learn Urdu and Arabic. They had taken the management to task regarding this matter.

    One of my relative is doing MBBS college administrator asked to learn Arabic and Malayalm compulsory to deal with patients. In St.thomas school teaching only basic of Arabic and French which may useful the students in the future, our brothers SRS why they are against this

    I am sure it was some misunderstanding happened either by students narrating at home,or some activists.I remember during my School times in a Govt.school,on friday evening all hindu stundents were offering Bhajana,in the last class,we christians were in a class lerned bible by a catholic teacher.Other muslims were going home.(Hardly any)But it was compulsory .Ifound it ok as a part of Religion class.Thatswhy dont make it a big Drama when it is a Religion class is.only shouldnt make it as compulsary to all who doesnt want.

    SRS pls do not interfere with smooth running of schools it is none of your business. If you are so concerned you may start few schools of your own since you have manpower as well as money, use it as a good resource.

    Mr. Alphoso, nobody is forcing language on students. If students and their parents have no objection, what is causing allergy to illiterate goons ? Can you give me a reason why Christian Schools should not teach these languages ? If any child or their parents have itching for these languages, they are free to join any govt. schools. I salute Christian Schools for their service.

    Every school has the right to teach any language, provided there are students to study. I suggest that Christian schools should teach Hebrew also besides Arabic since Christians are given priority for employment in Israel. And very soon there will be an Israeli Consulate in Bangalore.

    For your kind information and knowledge regular classes starts at 10 AM. These Arabic classes every Saturday from 9:15 to 10.
    Half knowledge is injurious to health.

    SRS activists parents should file cases against their childrens because they enter the school first time in their life.

    This is private school dear.
    If somebody want to study more, they will come early to school one day in a week. Arabic classes conducting with Principal and parents permission. Otherwise why they sending their children early to school.

    S of course english is foreign language..but derived from sanskrit..a mother language.
    It won't doing any harm in the world in the name of religion.
    We won't mind..if people will learn other languages as far it won't affect others. Latter on they demand to make it compulsory to introduce as more speaking persons..in the country.
