Bengaluru, Aug 1: “Good governance comes from right kind of training and sharing of skills”, said Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo, during the meeting of Kanara Entrepreneurs members held recently in Bengaluru.
Addressing the well attended gathering, he said “Education and mentoring are the key ingredients to achieve success and empower teams. It also helps in policy making which will establish youth and set them-up for a better future”.
“People may not believe what you say, but will believe what you do. Members of KE should start more business organisations like Mangalore Internet City, where risk and success are shared, creates more jobs and help grow the economy,” Lobo added.
He was impressed by the wide diversity of the members and their businesses in KE and mentioned that “individually we are exclusive and collectively explosive.” He advised that we should think differently and make the difference. While responding to a question, he said, “The youth of today do not have a fire in the belly. They should take up competitive exams and concentrate on one goal and put in all their efforts and then they will achieve success.”
“An invasion can be resisted but not an idea,” said Peter Anil Rego, president in his opening address. He spoke about how one man’s idea with sheer determination can change the world. “Who does not know McDonald’s? McDonald’s business founded in 1955 today has thousands of franchisees all over the world with over a million staff. They have Mc Donald University that teaches students how to make the famous hamburger.”
The president discharged the outgoing board members - Mark D’Souza - past president, Anil Francis Rego - director mentoring and Paul Sunil Rego - director events. He thanked them for the excellent effort and contribution to KE during their tenure. He also installed and welcomed the incoming BOD - Adrian D’Souza - president elect, Ivy Saldanha - director mentoring and Naveen Rodrigues - director events as the new office bearers for the year 2016-17. The other office bearers continuing for this term are Naveen D’Souza - director membership, Claudius Pereira - director marketing & sponsorship, Victor Quadros - director finance along with the president -Peter Anil Rego.
During the meeting, Naveen D’Souza - director membership, inducted four new members into the organisation - Gregory Fernandes , Charles Lasrado, Nelson Cordeiro and Viyal Roberts.
George Selvam, chairman & prime servant, 5 E Serpraise spoke on how to build successful teams and leaders. He conducted a team exercise as to how important it is to have the potential, people and the purpose of building a successful team along with overcoming failures. His talk was informative and the learning objective was well received by all the members.
Before the meeting began, Dr Sridharan, professor and representative from Christ University briefed the members on the upcoming entrepreneurship programme jointly conducted by Kanara Entrepreneurs Global & Christ University. He invited the members to visit the new campus at Bannergatta road.
There was also a brief response from Arun Furtado, who spoke on his journey, challenges and success he has achieved just by sheer hard work. He also explained on how he raised the bar to get to where he is today. He is currently the under secretary to the chief minister of Karnataka.
During the programme, KE Members directory and three newsletters were released by J R Lobo.
Vivon Pinto was the master of ceremony who welcomed the gathering by introducing the theme - “Marching ahead”.
William D`Mello proposed the vote of thanks and all the members and guests were treated to a splendid fellowship dinner.
