India to have Two Additional Solicitors General

New Delhi, Nov 27 (mb): The Union cabinet on Monday approved the creation of two posts of Additional Solicitors General.

The decision will help in strengthening the litigation machinery to effectively represent the Union of India in the Supreme Court and High Courts, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Cabinet meeting.

The Cabinet also approved upgradation of one post of Additional Secretary to Special Secretary in the Department of Legal Affairs as a measure personal to K D Singh till August 31, 2008 (date of retirement) or his leaving the post, whichever is earlier.
