Udupi, Aug 8 : The murder case of NRI entrepreneur from Saudi Arabia, Udupi Indrali native Bhaskar Shetty is taking curious turns every day. Police have accelerated investigation into this case.
The closeness shared by Bhaskar's wife Rajeshwari Shetty with 26-year-old Niranjan Bhat Asranna, son of Srinvas and Vijaya Bhat from Nandalike has helped the police reach certain conclusions.

On July 28, Bhaskar Shetty's mother Gulabi Shetty had first filed a complaint with Manipal police station after Shetty went missing. The mother was aware of the deteriorating relation between her son and daughter-in-law, and she also gave vital information on Niranjan Bhat's closeness with Rajeshwari Shetty. Niranjan Bhat had visited the Manipal police initially, but when the police called him a second time, he went missing. The fact that he went missing has turned the needle of suspicion on Bhat.
Niranjan, who dropped out of BBM course, tried his luck in catering and BPO business, but failed to get a breakthrough. He tried writing KAS exam also. But disappointed with failures, he came back to his native and learnt astrology skills from his father. It is learnt from the locals that he made good name at a young age in astrology, and later changed his name from Niranjan Bhat to Niranjan Asranna. Initially he used a bike to travel about, and later purchased a Rs 16 lac worth luxury car and even a flat. Now he has disappeared along with his car.
Police have also detained his father Srinivas Bhat for his son's involvement in the case. Though Srinivas is not accused in the case, possibility of destroying evidence is suspected.
According to the neighbours, Niranjan is a soft-spoken person, and did not have any enmity with anyone. As he had some kidney stone related issues, he was taking medicines for the last few days. "It is extremely difficult to believe that Niranjan is involved in this murder case, and that too, he burnt the body to ashes as 'homa' at his own house," said a neighbour.
Some sources say Rajeshwari and Niranjan have been in a close relationship for the last one year or so, and learning this, Bhaskar Shetty grew angry with both wife and son. He did not even visit the opening ceremony of his son's gym centre in Udupi. It is said, Niranjan Bhat took the lead in opening of the gym. Bhaskar Shetty reportedly requested his wife for divorce, and because of this reason, there were a few instances of quarrel between the father and mother-and-son duo. Son Navaneeth even kicked his father in the hotel room of Durga International, and thereafter he assaulted his father in his Indrali house also, police sources said.
Bhaskar Shetty was due to return to Saudi Arabia on August 15. But before that, he wanted to give the hotel to someone to run on lease.
Police suspect that fearing loss of Bhaskar's property and money, Rajeshwari, son Naveneeth and Niranjan conspired and committed the crime.
