Police Recover Valuables worth Rs 25 Lac from Kuvechaar Murder Accused

Puttur, Nov 30: Girish and Parvati, couple who were serving as domestic helpers in the houseof Krishnaraj, jeweler in Uppinangady town had robbed the entire jewellery including mobile hand set and two cameras, altogether worth Rs 25 lac after murdering Bharati and fastening other two women, Vani and Sunanda at their house located in Kuvecchar, under the jurisdiction of Ramakunja village, here at 11.30 am on October 27. Kadaba police have registered criminal case against the domestic couple, in this regard.
Briefing the media about the case, Western Range IGP A M Prasad said that the duo had been at large for almost a month after the murder and was recently nabbed in Mumbai by a special police team of the district.
The policemen embarked on extensive search for the accused couple, Girish and Parvati, who seemed to have changed their names wherever they went. The couple had criminal background and were living using fake identity for long. The initial investigations revealed that the couple were known as Ganesh alias Ganesh Poojary, Naikanakatte, Olamadu house, Kergal village, Kundapur taluk while his wife was also known as Parvati alias Prabhavati. The couple left behind the trail of their criminal activities in many places of undivided Dakshina Kannada.
The couple seems to have been on the run throughout the district and the capitals of neighbouring states. The relentless effort of police team rewarded them with the prized catch of criminal couple,a few days ago.
The policemen arrested the couple who were known in various names depending on the place of work across the district and recovered Rs 7,000 in cash, one mobile handset, jewellery worth Rs 23 lac. Moreover, the policemen also recovered jewellery sold to certain Manjunath Poojary and Ramachandra Ganiga, worth Rs 2 lac, he added.
