Moodbidri, Dec 2: The coastal Karnataka has contributed many eminent thinkers to the Kannada literary world. But, off late this region has been emerging as communally sensitive.   Hence, it's the matter of worry for the followers of eminent Kannada litterateur P Lankesh, said Dr Nataraj Huliyar, well-known Kannada writer.

Speaking on P Lankesh at 'Nudisiri' on Sunday, December 2, he asserted that 'Lankesh' is one of the top most Kannada writers of 20 th century. One can never find any boring sentence in his literature, he informed.

'Lankesh' has sown rationalistic views in the society since the past many decades; thereby he countered the communal minds. Moreover, he showed honesty in his each sentence, he added.

'Lankesh' strived to uphold 'secularism', among the populace of multi- religious and multi-cultured in our country. Meanwhile, 'Lankesh' is an anti-establishment entity. One can't become a writer, unless he is anti-establishment entity, Dr Huliyar opined.

Lankesh is also a good critic. The democracy fails when the criticism fails. That's why, he always stressed the need of constructive criticism, he said.

Moodbidri Dec 2: A huge event like ‘Alvas’ Nudisiri’ cannot be organized within a few days. Only the organizers know the real struggle behind this mega event. The organizers have to constantly find a novel theme every year, infact year after year. Then they ought to select resource persons according to the theme. Organizing this cultural programme on such a massive scale, is therefore a challenging task indeed. Undoubtedly a big team is also working behind it to ensure that everything runs smoothly to perfection.

In all a total of thirty personalities including well-known litterateurs, writers, organizers etc headed by Dr Mohan Alva are churning out brilliant ideas from the recesses of their brain for ensuring the success of the event. Well-known writers like Dr Na Damodar Shetty, Dr Satyanarayan Mallipatna, Dr Chinnappa Gowda, Dr Jayaprakash Mavinakuli, Dr Pundikai Bhat, well known organizers like Fr Denis D’Sa, Andar Gunapal Hegde, Fr Vincent D’Souza and others are assisting and collaborating with Mohan Alva to gives the necessary impetus. They conduct regular meeting about five to six times well in advance and discuss about the various themes. Once the theme is finalized, the second work is that of selection of the resource persons. This  also is a daunting task indeed, as the success of the event depends largely on the selection of the right resource persons for the right topic for the event.

Once the committee finalizes the names of the resource persons, they then hand it over to the Kannada department of the Alvas’ College. The next task is maintaining regular communication with them. The Kannada department has to bear this responsibility, informs Dr Na Damodar Shetty, one of the vice-presidents of the welcome committee. The job of the lecturers is to keep on interacting and communicating with the resource persons till the end of the programme, basically about their traveling, lodging, drop-pickup etc. It is the responsibility of the resource persons to ensure that the guests are comfortable and do not feel inconvenienced at  any stage.

In this event, the entire staff and as well as the students of Alvas College are taking an active part in being hospitable to thousands of participants, guests, artists, media persons etc. With regard to its Media Centre here, it too is doing a wonderful job. The entire computer science lab here has been converted into a media center. More than 50 computers with Internet facilities has been provided for the media persons to come here and report about the programmes. And to assist media persons there are the Alva college lecturers and students of journalism department doing the very best they can.

Last but not the least ‘Madhayama:', journalism students here are bringing out a special issue called ‘Madhyama,’ which is covering the entire events of ‘Nudisiri.’ They are printing about 1500 copies of ‘Madhyama,’ which comes in a tabloid form. The students here are working hard with guidance from Dhananjay Kumble, Moulya Jeevan, Archana, Kanchana and Yatiraj. Thus the journalism department is providing a golden opportunity to budding writers to exhibit their latent talents here. Moreover the said students are also keep themselves busy collecting and pasting news about the Nudisiri taken from various newspapers and pasting it on the walls of the campus.
