Mangaluru, Aug 14: MLC of Dakshina Kannada-Udupi constituency Kota Srinivas Poojary inaugurated the annual scholarship distribution programme of providing various types of help to needy, organised by Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates Charitable Trust (BDNE) at Kudroli temple premises in city on Sunday, August 14.
Addressing the gathering, Srinivas Poojary said, "The children must think about what they want to become in the future. If you become lazy, even the God will not save you. Today due to social developments, various opportunities have been created for the children and youth. There are instances wherein the children of coolie workers have become doctors through merit."
"Many years ago the then prime minister had rightly said, "The politics must not interfere in the basic needs of people especially the road, drinking water and the shelter to the downtrodden. The Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates Charitable Trust (BDNE) are giving their hard earned money as scholarships to students and the students who received it must make the most of it."
Rendering the key note address, the former president of Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates, Jitendra Suvarna said, "Children are the future of our country. Along with education, if we do not have intellect, prudence and humility, then education is of no use. We must have a control on our mind and only then we can achieve our goals."
Scholarships with various aids worth Rs 15.68 lac were distributed to 210 children and 15 people suffering with different ailments.
Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates office bearers Vasanth Thumbay, Sudhakar Poojary, Sathish Poojary, president of Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Kshetra H S Sairam, president of Shree Guru charitable trust Ganesh Bangera and others were present.
