Mangalore, Dec 3: Sr M Jeswina AC, department of English, St Agnes College here was conferred with the degree of doctor of philosophy in English literature by the University of Calicut, on Monday November 26.
Sr Jeswina after completing her MA in English literature in 1992 in Mysore University, she was appointed as a lecturer in the department of English language and literature to the Degree students. She has also done her post graduate certificate in the teaching of English and post graduate diploma in the teaching of English in Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad.
She enjoys teaching phonetics and has taught phonetics to a number of seminarians and religious sisters besides teaching her own students at St Agnes College.
In 2004 she completed her M Phil degree and wrote a dissertation on “Christian motifs and symbols in Patrick White’s Voss”.
She has also done diploma in Christian Spirituality at AVP Carmelaram, Bangalore, International Institute of Spirituality and wrote a dissertation on “The Trinitarian indwelling: The God Experience of Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity.” And now she has been conferred with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in English Literature for her thesis tilted “A Study of Nikos Kazantzakis’ Novels as his Spiritual Quest” guided by Dr S Ravindran, former HoD and professor, department of English, University of Calicut.
