Mangalore: AXIS Bank Launches 'NRI Fest' in City

Mangalore, Dec 3: The AXIS Bank Formerly UTI Bank), located at Bunts Hostel, in the city offered motion for the 'NRI Fest' on Monday, December 3 evening.
Axis Bank was the first of the new private banks to have begun operations in 1994, after the Government of India allowed new private banks to be established. The Bank was promoted jointly by the Administrator of the specified undertaking of the Unit Trust of India (UTI - I), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and General Insurance Corporation Ltd. and other four PSU companies, i.e. National Insurance Company Ltd., The New India Assurance Company, The Oriental Insurance Corporation and United Insurance Company Ltd
Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief of www.daijiworld.com, inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
Raviraj Urva from USA, Altaf Odeyar and Eula D'Souza and Elaine Fernandes were the chief guests of the occasion.
Informing on NRI accounts, Praveen Suresh, branch sales manager said that the bank operates NRI, NRO and FCNR accounts and it has overseas branches in Singapore, Shanghai, Dubai and Hong Kong, he added.
The NRIs' enjoy many special privileges with AXIS bank. One can get replies through e-mails for their queries. The bank also offers assistance in applying for Permanent Account Number (PAN) which would be most essential
for all, tax advisory services and dealings in mutual funds and life insurance, he explained.
The NRIs' can remit money to their relatives through this bank. The bank also gives option to operate the account by the children of the NRIs’. It also engaged in selling gold coins, he continued.
‘NRIs Fest’ has been aggressively embarked upon by Axis Bank, from Monday, Dec 3 to January 31, 2008, with an objective of increasing the NRI accounts in the city, where by the referral of 2 NRI’s will be assured of surprise gift to the provider by the bank.
