Udupi, Aug 19: A woman who was standing by the side of the road was killed on Wednesday August 17, after a car knocked her down. The incident occurred at Tekalthota near Katapadi.
The deceased happened to be Ruxana Banu, wife of Shaukat Ali from Badami taluk in Bagalkot taluk. She was waiting with a bag of waste materials from her home for being deposited on the other side of the highway when she met untimely death. The car which hit her was from Kerala.
Ruxana had sustained serious injuries in this incident. She was admitted into KMC Hospital Manipal. Although she was treated there, her condition continued to deteriorate and she breathed her last at night.
