Mangalore: 20th Carmel Day Celebrated at Carmel Hill

Mangalore, Dec 8: The twentieth Carmel day, a cultural bonanza was staged at Carmel Hill on 8th of December at 5- 30pm. It was a time to laugh, cry, shout, dance, and sing.
The young Carmelite brigadiers were at their best. It was presided over by “The Rachana Award” winner of the year Lancy Mascharenhas, with other dignitaries. Fr. Nelson and Fr. Boniface compeered the ceremony and captured the attention of the crowd with their spontaneous, original and creative laughter. The Programme began with a prayer service, enacted based on the Gospel miracle story. Fr. Alwyn Sequeira laid the red carpet to the gathering with his welcoming words. The young budding talents of Carmel youth group and Carmel Sodality performed a wonderful dance, appreciating our mother tongue “Jai Konkani”. The song composed by Fr. Alwyn Sequeira on Fr. Sylvester who was beaten in Kundapur recently kept the crowd spell bound.
During the stage Programme Fr. Patrick placed a brief report of Carmel Days and then the Mangalore municipality catholic corporators were honored. Gilbert Pinto the ex-corporator released a new poetry book written by Br. Jo.si. siddakkatte. The Chief guest then addressed the gathering and said that he has been blessed in innumerable ways after he constructed the Infant Jesus Shrine. Fr. Boniface thanked all who made this evening a success. The zenith of all it, was the drama “Sunkuddo” written by
Nellu, Permannur. Earlier Fr. Patrick Lobo, the Superior of Carmel Hill, was felicitated Nellu Permannur for his contribution to Konkani theater.
