Mangaluru, Sep 1: As the nationwide strike called by the Left-affiliated central trade unions on September 2 to protest against anti-labour policies of the government is expected to result in total bandh with the support of many other associations and organisations, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Dr K G Jagadish has said that all schools in the district will remain open.
He said that he held a meeting with police commissioner Chandra Shekar and superintendent of police Gulabrao Borase and they have taken adequate security measures to keep the district without any incidents.
He also said that he has asked the participants of strike to remain calm and observe bandh in a peaceful manner.
As buses and auto rickshaws will be off the roads tomorrow, children may not be able to reach the schools. Private school vehicles too may not operate fearing security. Only those children who stay nearer to the schools can make it as was the case during previous bandh.
