Bantwal, Sep 4: An incident of theft has come to light in the evening of Sunday, September 4 where items worth lac of rupees were stolen.
The theft took place at Guddeyangadi near Panemangaluru at the house of Ismail, a beedi merchant.
The occupants had gone to relative’s house at Thoudugoli on Saturday and when they came home back on Sunday evening, they discovered about the theft.
Ismail’s family had left the keys of the almirah under the bed. The thieves entered the house after breaking the tiles of roof from backside. They got the keys from under the bed, opened the almirah and went away with jewellery weighing 43 sovereigns and Rs 40,000 cash.
Ismail, upon discovering about the theft, informed Bantwal town police crime section. Sub-inspector Gangadharaiah and his team came to the place of theft and checked with the help of canine squad and fingerprint experts. DySP Raveesh C R, circle inspector Manjayya B K, also came and guided the team.
Involvement of local persons is suspected in the theft, said sources.
A case stands registered at Bantwal town police station.
