Puttur, Sep 5: "It would not be possible for police to keep vigil at all the places during festivals. Therefore, we have stipulated that the organizers conducting processions in sensitive areas have to furnish bonds. There is no need to attach any special meaning to the bond condition, as its main aim to alert the organizers that they have the responsibility to ensure that programmes are held peacefully," said Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Bushan G Borase.
Borase was replying to questions raised by press persons over the condition of bond newly introduced for Ganeshotsava organizers. He said that in 98 percent of cases where Ganeshotsavas are held peacefully, bond condition will not be imposed.
He noted that Bakr Id is also falling during next week. He warned that strict action will be taken against those who take law into their hands and intercept cattle transporters. He reminded that no one has the right to take law into their hands, and that they have to inform the government officials.
Assistant superintendent of police, C B Rishvanth, and inspector of the town station here, Mahesh Prasad, were present.
Recently the police had stipulated that a bond of Rs 10 lac should be furnished for holding festivals by organisations. This policy had received objections from few quarters especially BJP.
