Karwar, Sep 5: Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul, who is also the district magistrate of the Uttara Kannada district, has ordered for banishment of Sri Ram Sene leader Jayanth Govinda Naik from the district for three months.
Naik is a resident of Sonarakeri in Murdeshwar. The order has been made after requests were received from district police.
Police took Jayanth Govinda Naik into custody immediately after the order on Sunday night and took him to the border of Yallapura near Hubballi.
Jayanth is likely to appeal against the order in the High Court. As Sunday and Monday were government holidays, it is necessary for Naik to wait till Tuesday for the court to open.
If the High court confirms the order, Jayanth will have to remain outside the district for three months. If he enters the district during the period, ignoring the order, he will be arrested by the police.
