Mangaluru: Public felicitation for statesman B A Moideen on Sep 15

Mangaluru, Sep 8: B A Moideen from the city, who rose to eminence as a statesman by holding on to exalted principles in spite of being in politics for long, is being given public felicitation on September 15. The function in which Moideen,, who had recently won the prestigious Devaraj Urs award of Karnataka government, will be honoured, will be held at town hall here at 3.30 pm that day.

City mayor, Harinath, will preside over the function, in which state health and family welfare minister, K R Ramesh Kumar, will deliver felicitation address. Renowned Qazis, Alhaj Twaka Ahmed Musliyar and Alhaj Assayed Fazal Koyamma Tangal, Dharmapalanatha Swamiji of the local branch of Adichunchanagiri Math, and vicar general of Mangalore diocese, Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, will take part as special invitees.



State home minister Dr G Parameshwar, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai, food and civil supplies minister U T Khader, port, fisheries and sports minister Pramod Madhwaraj, M P Veerappa Moily, Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, chief whip of the opposition in legislative council Capt Ganesh Karnik, chief whip of the opposition in the state assembly Sunil Kumar, and Puttur MLA, Shakuntala Shetty will be among the dignitaries who will grace the occasion.

A Civic Reception Committee with chief whip of the legislative council, Ivan D'Souza as its president, has been formed towards holding the programme successfully. President of Dakshina Kannada district Wakf Advisory Committee, S M Rasheed Haji, is the convener of this committee, K M Mustafa Sullia happens to be the general secretary, and Lawrence D'Souza will be the programme convener, a release stated.

    I still remember Mr. Moideen, a simple and grounded to earth insppite of being busy in Politics and later as a minister. He was our neighbour and when my grandmother died, the made time and visited our house and paid homage. My Mother speaks highly of him.
