Udupi, Sep 11: “There is no point asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in Cauvery dispute as the matter is in court. Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah does not listen to anybody. Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha is stubborn.” said union minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Sunday, September 11 here.
He was speaking to reporters during his visit to Kadiyali Ganeshotsava in city.
“Karnataka has failed in the management of Cauvery water dispute. There is no distress formula. Court says that there should not be any problem for drinking water. But injustice has been done to the state,” Gowda added.
“Karnataka has failed to face Tamil Nadu in a proper way. Cauvery is a sensitive issue. Let the expert team come to KRS. This is a constitutional crisis. There should not be release of water till the expert team gives the report.” Gowda opined.
“Fali Nariman is a very good lawyer. He will protect the interest of the state.” he said referring to the counsel representing Karnataka state in the Supreme Court in the Cauvery dispute case.
Commenting on feud between leader of the opposition in legislative council Eshwarappa and state BJP president Yeddyurappa, Gowda said “I do not say there is no difference of opinion between them. But it is not a big problem. It is a problem within the house. We will solve it. BJP national general secretary is also coming to state soon and will be here for three days. He will clear the issue.”
