Udupi: 72-year-old missing man John D’Silva found dead

Daijiworld Media Network- Udupi (PS)

Udupi, Sep 11: A man, who has been missing for the past three and half months, was found dead on Sunday, September 11.

John D’Silva (72) from Baikady Bhadragiri is the person deceased. The skeletons of the deceased were found at Jathabettu near Uppoor.

John D’Silva had left his home to pay the telephone bill at Brahmavar on May 26. But he did not return home. His wife Leena D’Silva (58) complained to police about her missing husband. A search was launched by the family and police which did not yield any result.

On September 11, police received a call from a person who said that skeletons were located at the forest in Jathabettu. Police, who went to the place, came to the conclusion that it was the skeletons of John D’silva based on the clothes worn by the deceased.

It is now concluded that John D’Silva who had memory problems must have faced problems to know the right way to reach home. He must have collapsed and died from then. There is also a possibility that wild animals could have hurt him, police sources said.

Uppoor is quite a distance from Bramhavar. How was it concluded that it was indeed Mr. D'Silva ?
Proper identification by DNA analysis should be carried out. If indeed it is Mr. D'Silva, My condolences to the bereaved family. May his soul RIP>

Let me first of all say that I do not mean any disrespect whatsoever to the family of Mr.John D'Silva but I must say this that this seems to be a very shoddy work by the police. This indeed seems shocking. How can the police conclude that the skeleton belongs to Mr.John D'Silva merely because the clothes were the same as those he was last known to be wearing coupled with the fact that the concerned person had memory problems ? The police need to do a forensic DNA test to conclude the identity of the skeletal remains.
If the concerned person was murdered or kidnapped the murderer(s) or kidnapper(s) could also have put his clothes on someone else's skeleton to make it appear to the police to be of the concerned person's remains. Did the police investigate the identity of the caller ?
However, if it has been confirmed as the remains of Mr.John D'Silva with certainty then my prayers to the departed soul. RIP John.
    Prayers for his family too.
