Honnavar, Sep 12 (DHNS): In a tragic incident, three engineering students from RV Engineering College, Bengaluru, drowned in the sea near Apsarakonda at Honnavar taluk on Sunday, September 11.
The deceased, Tejas Kumar, Mohan M and Chethan Kumar, were all aged around 22. Tejas Kumar and Mohan M were residents of Kuduguntepalya and Chethan Kumar was a resident of Kengeri.
The three students were a part of nine-member team that arrived in two vehicles at Apsarakonda on Saturday. All the nine ventured into the sea, while the local residents were able to save 6 of them. Police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel were involved in the rescue operations.
A case has been registered at the Manki police station. Meanwhile, Dr K N Subramanya, principal, R V College of Engineering, Bengaluru, said: “All the nine students are seventh semester students of the industrial engineering management course. It is unfortunate that three students drowned. They were good students. The institution always warned against such trips. We will extend all cooperation to the rest of the students and the family of the deceased.”
