Melbourne, Dec 14: The Mangalorean Catholic Association of Victoria, Inc (MCAV) organized a family Christmas function - ‘2007 Christmas Dance’ - on Saturday December 8 at Mount Waverley Youth Centre, about 20 kms from Melbourne CBD.
The evening provided a great opportunity to members and their children to meet one another in a family setting. The attendees were entertained to a wide variety of activities normally associated with the festive season. There was carol singing, a surprise visit from Santa, bingo and a dance accompanied by the upbeat tunes of DJ Avery. And then there was the balloon-balancing by partners that ensured that just about everyone was on the dance floor.
No evening is complete without some good mouth-watering food. The committee ensured that good food was provided to the patrons.
The ‘2007 Christmas Dance’ was a grand finale for the calendar year of 2007 and left members and non-members awaiting the New Year with unforgettable memories. The Mangalorean community of Melbourne came together united with everyone participating in the fun-filled evening. MCAV has been very successful in attracting many young people to its activities, and this particular event was no different.
Colin Fernandes (Vice-president), Irene Andrade (secretary), Cuby Martis (Treasurer), Janet D’Mello (Social Secretary) and Lyn Saldanha – helped with many friends - left nothing to ensure that the night was indeed a super success in every sense. Bert Naik (President) was away overseas due to personal reasons. Cheryl Naik did a fantastic job as the MC for the occasion.
