Mumbai, Sep 30: Renowned Konkani composer and singer Victor Concessao breathed his last on Friday, September 30 in Andheri here.
He was 65. He is survived by wife and two daughters.
Originally hailing from Derebail in Mangaluru city, he was resident of Mumbai for several years.
He was known for his youth centric Konkani songs. He also played music for dramas.
'Niskollpon' , 'Bharathanth Sukhi Konn' 'Bombil Mary', 'Mother Theresa', 'Buinkamp' were some of his all time hits.
During his heydays, he sang for Konakni Natak Sabha competitions and won trophies for Rosario Cathedral parish where he stayed then.
He had composed nearly 1200 songs and took part in more than 90 concerts starting from the first musical nite presented by Benar Productions in 1982. He had sung for famous Konkani film 'Thisri Cheet'. Recently he had composed a song for super hit Konkani film 'Noshibacho Khell'.
‘Sangeeth Ratna’ title was bestowed on him for his contribution to Konkani music.
'Namma Kudladha Ooruye' is one of his famous unforgettable Tulu songs sung in functions.
Funeral will be held on Monday, October 3 at Sacred Heart Church, Mahakali, Andheri (East) in Mumbai at 4pm, said family sources.
