Mangalore: Illegal Cow Slaughtering; Kasaba Bengre Turns Violent

Mangalore, Dec 22: Tension prevails at Kasaba Bengre after a group assaulted police personnel for objecting illegal cow slaughtering here on Saturday, December 22.

Upon hearing the news on Saturday that some people are engaged in illegal cow slaughtering, the Panambur police rushed to the spot.  The police asked the people engaged in the illegal activity to stop it immediately. 



But the situation turned violent when the people attacked the police.
 
A police jeep has been damaged due to stone pelting.

Hundreds of people gathered here after this incident. Police have used canes to control the mob, sources informed.  Police have arrested about 25 people in connection with this incident so far and KSRP forces have been deployed at Kasaba Bengre, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, the police restricted the movement of people to avoid any unhealthy incidents.
