Mangaluru, Oct 2: "Mahatma Gandhi who fought for the country's independence, through non-violence will be always eternal. His principles should always inspiration for us," said freedom fighter Seraje KP Madan Master.
He was speaking after receiving felicitation at Gandhi Jayanthi programme organized by Bharath Sevadal, District Information and Public Relation and Public Education Department at Town Hall here on Sunday October 2.
"Even though Mahatma Gandhi has died, he is alive. His name will be eternal. Entire world shed tears for the death of Mahatma Gandhi. All nations paid tribute to him and observed mourning during his death. This is the incredible personality of Mahatma Gandhi" he said.
“Present government is talking about the ' Congress-free India'. They are words of foolishness. No one can separate the ideology of Gandhi. His thoughts are relevant forever.” He added.
Police commissioner Chandra Shekar said “Many great leaders have sacrificed for the freedom of India. We should inculcate peace, brotherhood, and ideology of Gandhi. Only through this his soul will be happy.”
ADC Kumar also spoke on this occasion.
Dakshina Kannada SP Bhushan G Borase, Tahasildar Mahadevaiah, MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazir, formation and public relation officer Kadar Sha and others were present.
Badriya College principle Dr Ismail N gave brief lecture on thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi.
Floral tributes were offered to Mahatma Gandhi Statue at Town hall.

Udupi, Oct 2: Udupi district observed Gandhi Jayanthi at Bhujanga Park here. Deputy commissioner (DC) Venkatesh, Meenakshi Bannanje and Manjunathayya from CMC and former MLA Raghupathi Bhat offered floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi among others.
DC Venkatesh speaking on the occasion said that only by flowing the teachings if Mahatma, one can offer true respect to his stature. He said that Gandhi only preached what he followed in life.
“His entire life is a book of lessons for us. What we follow now as Swachh Bharath was conceived and propagated by Mahatma when he walked on this earth.” Venkatesh added.
