Karwar, Oct 13: As many as 34 fishermen were rescued by coast guards from a sinking boat in the Arabian sea in Karwar, Uttara Kannada district.
The fishing boat named Rameshwara had gone for fishing from Baithakhol fishing port. After fishing expedition, the boat was returning to shore with a half load of fish in the night. In the way back to shore, the fibre of the boat broke and the boat was about to capsize.
When coast guards were informed, they rushed to the scene and were able to rescued all 34 fishermen from the boat and brought them to Karwar port in their mechanized boat.
All the fishermen are safe. The boat is owned by Gopichand, a resident of Majali in Karwar taluk.
