Bantwal, Oct 14: Leelavathi alias Rekha (36), wife of Purushotham Gowda, a resident of Netla Kallagudde in Goltamajalu village in the taluk, ended her life on Thursday October 13 by hanging herself in the poultry farm behind her home by using the veil of her churidar. She was working as motivator for Asha scheme of the state government.
The two children of the couple were at the home of their grandparents at Kavoor Mangaluru to spend holidays. Purushotham, who happens to be skilled at fixing tiles, had been to B C Road on some work on Thursday morning. On his return, he saw that the door of the house was wide open. When he went looking for wife, he found his wife hanging in the poultry shed, it is gathered.
The police, who came to investigate, found a suicide note in which the lady confessed that she was committing a crime and that she was solely responsible for this decision.
Rekha, daughter of Raghu Devadiga from Kavoor, had been married to Purushotham 14 years back. Rekha is survived by two daughters, Shreya (10) and Shravya (8). It is learnt that she used to work hard as the motivator of Asha scheme and that her husband often objected to her habit of working hard for late hours. Rekha had called her father to convey this information, it is said.
The family members had planned to visit Dharmasthala in a few days. Rekha of late, was bothered by the problem of kidney stones. Police suspect that this would have caused a sense of frustration in her mind.
Local police station house officer, Nandakumar, said that on the basis of complaint filed by the lady's father, a case has been registered and investigation is under way.
