Kundapur, Oct 14: In an incident which occurred at Sangam area in the outskirts of town on the night of Thursday October 13, a car was intercepted by placing boulders across the road, before its occupant was attacked and robbed of gold and cash found in his possession. The injured person stands hospitalized.
Sudhir Achar, employee of a mobile service shop in the town bearing the name, 'Classic', became victim of this unexpected incident.
At around 9.30 pm on Thursday, Sudhir was going home in his car after the shop was closed, when a gang that apparently had planned the robbery in advance, forced him to stop the car at Sangam after placing boulders across his path. When Sudhir, who was driving the car, saw the boulders, stopped the car and alighted, a waiting gang suddenly attacked him. He was forced to lie down across the highway and badly beaten up. The gang robbed a gold chain he was wearing around his neck and cash amounting to Rs 26,000 he had in his pocket.
Some locals who heard shouts for help rushed to the spot and took Achar to a private hospital in the town in his car, where he stands admitted.
